RACE IN THE TRUMP/SESSIONS CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION

THURSDAY, MAY 18th, 4:30-6PM AT MORGAN LEWIS, ONE FEDERAL STREET, BOSTON

Matthew Segal, a civil rights and appellate litigator, has been legal director of the ACLU of Massachusetts since 2012. He has litigated significant cases on  wrongful convictions, privacy, the criminalization of poverty, the First Amendment, mandatory minimum sentencing, and immigrants’ rights. Matthew’s cases at ACLUM include Louhghalam v. Trump, which temporarily halted President Trump’s Travel Ban, Bridgeman v. District Attorney, which overturned more than 21,000 convictions in the Annie Dookhan drug lab scandal, and Commonwealth v. Augustine, which made Massachusetts the second state to recognize constitutional protections for cell phone location data.  

Attorney Segal will discuss race as pertains to the Warren decision, opportunities to expand the Fourth Amendment, and challenges and strategies in state and federal court. 

Light refreshments will be served and are provided by Todd and Weld.

Registration is free for MACDL members, $10 for non-member public defenders and bar advocates, and $15 for all others.
