Willie J. Davis, a respected and dynamic long-time criminal defense attorney, passed away on June 19, 2019. He was a friend and colleague to many MACDL members and a deeply valued member of our legal community. As William M. White Jr. wrote in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, Willie was a “true giant of the law.” As a criminal defense lawyer, “[h]e defended the high-profile cases, the little-known cases, and most certainly the impossible cases. They were his domain. He relished the challenge and never bowed his head. He mastered the arts of both trial and appellate practice like no other.” Willie’s “magnificent energy and grace” have indeed touched us all. He leaves our profession better than he found it and will be profoundly missed.
